We’re so excited to welcome local author Lexie Kensinger to Cafe au Play for a special guest storytime! Join us as she reads her children’s book ”Tilly” — a fun and heartwarming story perfect for young readers.
Kids will enjoy a themed craft activity that ties in with the story
A complimentary snack will be provided
Books will be available for purchase and signing after the reading!
Come support a local author, enjoy a super sweet storytime, and leave with a signed copy of a new favorite book!

Baby Wearing Event

Where: Cafe Au Play
When: Saturday August 9th, from 9:30 – 1
What: This is event is for expecting moms or moms of babies and/or toddlers to come learn how to baby wear
How: No online booking necessary, but if you would please RSVP to our event on Facebook or text us at 814-660-6416 if you’d like to participate, that would be wonderful! Drop-ins also welcome :)
Cost: FREE!
Expecting moms or moms who just want to stop in for the carrier practice are no cost. If you have a child who wishes to play, the normal play session rate still applies.
We are excited to welcome Chelsea Hoy, from the State College area to participate in this event with us. Chelsea holds an Educators Certificate in baby wearing and is a wealth of knowledge in fit and positioning for a variety of baby carriers.
Chelsea also has a lending library with over 80 carriers available for rent to try before a purchase. She will also be bringing 2 demo dolls so if you are expecting and want to practice before you little ones arrival – now’s the time! Or if you're nervous to try with your baby for the first time, a doll is available to increase your confidence.
Reach out to us if you have a specific carrier you’d like to see, and Chelsea will bring if it is available.
Bring your own carrier, and learn the safest way to get your baby in and out. You will also learn safe positioning, and proper fit for both you and baby.

Local Author Spotlight

We will be welcoming another local author, Cathleen Lykens, to Cafe Au Play for a story time. She will be reading her book “Carrot Catastrophe”, where a woman is bothered when children use her yard as a playground. She plants a garden and when she harvests vegetables, trouble begins…

Expecting Moms Social Event
8/22/25 from 6:00 - 8:00PM
Where: Cafe Au Play
When: Friday August 22nd from 6:00 – 8:00PM
What: Social event for expecting mamas (and dadas!). Light refreshments available.
Cost: $10 per adult at the door (to cover cost of food + drinks)

Join other local families who are expecting little ones around the same time. In a small town like ours, chances are these kiddos will grow up together—so let’s start building connections now!
Pregnancy isn’t easy, and you’re not alone. Let’s chat about everything from morning sickness remedies to hospital bag must-haves, what you’re most excited (or nervous) about, and everything in between.

In honor of Back to School Week, let’s celebrate with some fun and learning!
We’re kicking off the school year with a fun, hands-on learning event for little learners!
We’ll have interactive stations set up for activities focused on reading, writing, math, shapes, and science — perfect for kids to explore and build school-ready skills through play.
This is not a structured event — children are free to move between stations at their own pace or enjoy our regular play area.

Sensory Hours

Where: Cafe Au Play
When: Saturday August 30th from 1:00 – 3:00
What: Low sensory extended hours special. This is the same day as our “We love learning” theme day. Stations will be set up featuring various back to school subjects. Children are free to move between stations at their own pace or enjoy our regular play area.
Cost: Included with admission or membership
Session will feature:
